THE BIG BREAK LEGACY
It’s the reality show with one of the biggest prizes on South African television. The Big Break Legacy splashed across screens on SABC2 from 17 August and Season 2’s winner, Sanele Makinane was announced last week at a prestigious gala dinner in Johannesburg, walking away with a whopping R5-million investment.
This year’s Top 12 contestants come from across the country with businesses are as diverse as they are. They did, however, have one thing in common – they were all out to win the top prize and this season viewers bore witness to some Herculean battles!
The Big Break Legacy makes for gripping television but the programme has also helped to combat unemployment by demystifying entrepreneurship and making it accessible to viewers as a viable career option.

Going for R5-million and on the threshold of becoming household names in the country, SA’s new reality TV stars were announced in Johannnesburg earlier this year. Pictured above, the Top 12 are Teboho Mafodi, Charmaine Kleynhans, Zama Sibinda, Jared Pillai, Christiaan (Kris) Muller, Thati Mashao, Adele Lourens, Tsepiso Makhubedu, Ifthakaar Shaik, Kelebogile Seleka and Sanele Makinane. The 12th finalist Ntokozo Biyela was not at the announcement as he was on a business trip to India.
The seven men and five women – ranging in age from 19 to 49 and come from around this country – with diverse business ideas but all believe that they have what it takes to be No 1. We wish each well on their continuing entrepreneurial journey. Keep #advancingSA!
